Program Overview:
The 13th Annual UCLA – Mellinkoff GI & Hepatology Symposium is designed to offer healthcare professionals evidence-based and integrative approaches to treat common GI disorders that can easily be implemented into practice and have significant impact on patient outcomes. An endoscopy forum with video and live cases will also show complex cases and new technology. Interactive, case-based presentations and panel discussions by experts in their field will engage attendees and enhance this learning experience.
Target Audience:
The conference will deliver a comprehensive educational update to community-based health care professionals, including gastroenterologists, hepatologists, fellows, NPs, PAs, and nurses.
Educational Objectives:
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

Evaluate and apply emerging pharmacologic therapies for IBD, including biologics and small molecules, to improve patient outcomes.

Develop interdisciplinary strategies for addressing complex cases in IBD, such as Crohn’s disease and J-pouch complications.

Diagnose and manage functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) and related psychosocial challenges using evidence-based approaches.

Implement updated guidelines and treatments for liver diseases, including MASLD/MASH and cirrhosis, with a focus on diverse patient populations.

Explain endoscopy procedures and other advanced diagnostic modalities
Accreditation:
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower and Focus Medical Communications. Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Physician Credit:
The Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower designates this live activity for a maximum of 15.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Information For Nurses:
The California State Board of Registered Nursing accepts courses approved by the AMA for Category 1 Credit(s) as meeting the continuing education requirements for license renewal. Nurses from states other than California should inquire with their local State Board for specific continuing education policies. Nursing participants, who attend both days in full, will be awarded 15.50 CMEs. Partial credit is not available. MOC Designation:
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 15.50 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
